Bible Tabernacle Christian Center (The Vision)

The Lord said, “Build a church where these men and women that are hanging out on street corners, strung out on drugs and/or alcohol and caught in other areas of sin could come and be leaders in the church of Jesus Christ.” The Lord said as the master said to his servants in Luke14:23, “And the Lord said unto the servants, go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in that my house may be filled.“ Build a church in the York community where the name of the Lord Jesus Christ would be lifted up, and where sinners could come and be saved; regardless of the way they looked or dressed, regardless of their past, where they came from or what their lives may have been, no matter how much money they had or didn’t have. Whosoever will, could come and feel the presence of the Lord, cry out to God and be saved. So our Vision and Mission is to do what the Lord says; to reach out to this community and to the uttermost parts of the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a local church serving the York City Community for over 35 years. Our founding Pastor, Dr. Carl H. Scott started this church to fulfill the vision given to him by the Lord. We are a non-denominational, Bible-based Christian church located in York City. We believe the Word of God is Changing Lives.

Baptism

The Lord Jesus Christ commanded his followers to be baptized. Matthew 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” Baptism is symbolic of our death, burial and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4, “ Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”  It’s our way of telling the world, we now identify with Jesus Christ. We therefore believe that baptism by immersion is the biblical model we are to use.

Communion

Participation in the Lord’s Supper is a command.  Luke 22:19, “And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” The bread is symbolic of the body of Jesus Christ and the cup represents the blood of Christ, which was shed on the cross for our sins. 1 Corinthians 11:26, “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” We believe that as believers when we partake of the Lord’s Supper (Communion) we witness to the fact that Christ not only lived and died, but is coming back again, for the Apostle Paul says that we proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes, and the command is that we do it in remembrance of Him.
